It may be no surprise for those of us that live in Calgary that when an objective body looks at all the reasons that an area is a great place to raise a family, Calgary comes in near the top of the rankings for the entire country.
In this particular case, the objective body that came up with the rankings is MoneySense magazine. The online magazine took into account: number of daycare facilities per 1000 children, how much of the population is made up of students, house prices, crime, health of population, joblessness, climate, and culture.
Also unsurprisingly, Calgary was ranked by the online magazine as the 4th best place in the country to find a job. While some of the same factors were at play in this ranking, there were some additional factors involved as well. In determining the Best Place for Jobs rankings, they looked at: housing costs, household income, discretionary income, population growth, number of doctors and hospitals per capita, joblessness rate, and transit use.
When you look at all the reasons why Calgary is a great city to move to, it makes sense that we have a growing population and a varied culture. People from all over the country see this city as a desirable place to live, as well as new Canadian citizens. In fact, new Canadian citizens are more likely to move to Calgary than any other city in Alberta.
If you’re thinking about moving to this neck of the woods, this is some great information that might just help convince you how great our city really is. Consider that this data, at the very least, takes care of part of the research that you’d like to do about any new area that you might like to move to.
