It may be no surprise for those of us that live in Calgary that when an objective body looks at all the reasons that an area is a great place to raise a family, Calgary comes in near the top of the rankings for the entire country.

In this particular case, the objective body that came up with the rankings is MoneySense magazine. The online magazine took into account: number of daycare facilities per 1000 children, how much of the population is made up of students, house prices, crime, health of population, joblessness, climate, and culture.

Also unsurprisingly, Calgary was ranked by the online magazine as the 4th best place in the country to find a job. While some of the same factors were at play in this ranking, there were some

In 2002, our Federal Government created the Cultural Capitals of Canada program to encourage and help support arts and culture in municipalities across Canada. Starting in 2008, the government annually selects a few communities as “Cultural Capitals of Canada” out of the applicants which have applied for the title.
